Youth bludgeoned to death for mobile phone

MUMBAI: The Sakinaka police last week arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly bludgeoning to death his friend under the influence of alcohol following a heated argument over a mobile phone handset in the Ghatkopar locality.

Police said that the accused Sudhir Raul (28) was nabbed from the spot where his friend Sharadkumar Gupta (28) was bludgeoned to death with a Kadappa stone by him at around 2am.

Raul and Gupta were drinking together at the Kulkarniwadi area in Asalfa village when the former inquired the latter about his mobile handset. "Raul wanted Gupta's phone and despite asking him twice, the victim did not respond which resulted in a heated argument between them. In a fit of rage, Raul lifted the stone and banged it on Gupta's head. He was found in a pool of blood with severe injuries," said the police.

Locals on hearing the victim's scream rushed to the spot and got him admitted in a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
