Govt asks schools to apply for reimbursement for backward class students

MUMBAI: The state government has asked private schools to submit application of scholarships by students from backward classes.

The state government reimburses tuition and exam fee of below the poverty line students in these categories.

As per a decision that is in force since 2011-12, the social justice and special assistance department of the state government provides up to Rs 200 per month towards reimbursements of fees for such school students.

The scheme is applicable for those belonging to scheduled caste, nomadic tribes, and special backward classes. The reimbursement is released as one installment. It is applicable for ten months.
