MUMBAI: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) consumers in Vasai region are complaining about having to pay late payment fees for their monthly electricity bills delayed by the service provider. Consumers were waiting for their August 2012 bills which were delayed inordinately. The September 2012 electricity bills too did not arrive on the specified time.
Consumers were shocked to receive August and September bills along with fine for delay in payment. While consumers knocked at the local BSNL offices they were told to pay their bills and then register their complaints and grievances. Michael Furtado, Congress district President of Vasai has now written to the BSNL officials asking them to look into the issue. Furtado said that the bills were delayed by the BSNL and fines had to be paid by the consumers.
He said that consumers who had inquired about their bills had not received satisfactory response from the BSNL offices, he alleged. Consumers have been complaining about the deteriorating services of BSNL mobile phones and landlines. While mobile and internet users face regular network problems, landlines too go dead and remain unattended for days.
