Amir Mansoori went missing while playing outside his Dnyeshwar Nagar home in Kherwadi, Bandra (east) on April 1. His parents registered a kidnapping case with the Kherwadi police station on April 2. While the Kherwadi police were looking for the missing boy, the parents had no clue who could have taken away their son.
On Sunday afternoon, locals of Shirdi Nagar in Nalasopara (east) were perturbed on seeing a wailing boy in the arms of a woman who did not look like his mother. The locals stopped the woman and questioned her about the boy. When she started giving evasive replies, the crowd got suspicious and handed her over to the Tuling police station. The police on questioning found that her name was Shobha Shinde (40) and she had kidnapped the boy from Bandra. The police took a picture of Amir and circulated it to the Kherwadi and Bandra police stations. The Kherwadi police confirmed that Amir had been kidnapped on April 1.
Shide, a mother of two minor boys and a girl, stays in Shirdi Nagar. Her husband has deserted her. Police suspect that she may be a part of gang involved in kidnapping children for begging. Police said that Shinde has not confessed about what she planned to do with Amir. Police said that it is likely that Shinde may have picked up many more children. She has been handed over to the Kherwadi police.
