Mejo Moni from Trichur was in Mumbai for training with his company. On March 21, he took the Duranto Express with four friends. Around 10pm, he went to the washroom. His phone was on his seat. As he did not return, his friends started looking for him.
One of them got off at the next station, Panvel, and lodged a missing complaint. He then proceeded to Kerala and informed Moni's parents.
"Moni's friends said he could not have alighted as every service was available on board. After the pharma company's officials met the GRP commissioner, we looked through 'Shodh'. Moni's description matched that of a person found dead by Thane GRP in the Parsik tunnel on March 22. Moni's parents were informed and they verified the clothes worn by him. The body was then handed over to his parents," said a GRP spokesperson.
Moni had suffered head injuries besides multiple injuries and the police believe he could have fallen off the train.
The website 'Shodh' has helped establish identities of 23 accident victims found on railway premises since last year. It has also helped the Mumbai city police with 52 such cases and the Navi Mumbai city police with 11 cases.
The concept of 'Shodh' recently bagged a prize for envisioning innovative projects to simplify administrative process for the common man.
