MUMBAI: A 24-year-old law student was arrested by the Kandivali police on charges of molestation after a female classmate lodged a complaint. The accused had proposed to the 19-year-old victim and would keep pestering her to accept, official said. Both of them are studying in the second year at a Kandivali based law college.

"The victim was not interested and had warned the accused to stay away from her. But he was adamant and would not give up. On Saturday, he approached the victim once again in college and tried to strike a conversation with her," said an official with the Kandivali police station.

The victim asked him to stop stalking and harassing her. At this, the accused used abusive language and touched her inappropriately. The girl then confided in her family and lodged a complaint with the Malad police. The case was later transferred to the Kandivali police station as the law college is located in their jurisdiction.

The accused was arrested from his Malad East residence on Monday. He has been remanded to police custody by a magistrate court. classmate,Malad police,Law college student
