3 women killed, 2 others injured on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

NAVI MUMBAI: Three young women in their early 20s were killed while two others were injured in a car accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Sunday night.

The victims were returning from Shirdi to their hometown in Uran. They had hired an SUV on Saturday to go to Shirdi. There were five women in the SUV apart from the driver.

While returning, the vehicle hit the divider near Urse toll naka, between Talegaon and Khandala, leading to the fatalities.

The driver and another woman were injured in the accident. The fifth woman escaped with very minor injuries.

Names of the dead are Ranjana Kadu (23), Preeti Sharma (20) and Diksha Mhatre (20). They used to work in a pathological laboratory in Uran town.

Coincidentally, the Uran locals informed, the fathers of all the five victims had passed away around three to five years back. The victims were close friends and used to work in the medical field.
