Youth killed, woman hurt in train mishaps

MUMBAI: A youth lost his life after falling off a local train between Cotton Green and Reay Road stations on Sunday. Najmun Khan (18), the deceased, was travelling on a Harbour local around 7.50pm when the incident took place. In a separate case on Tuesday, a 26-year-old woman, Ayushi Prasad, fell on the platform while trying to board a local at Andheri station, sustaining injuries.

"Khan was a resident of Cheetah Camp in Trombay. He was found lying near railway pole number 4/13 kms, covered in injuries. GRP officials rushed him to the Sion Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The Wadala GRP registered a case of accidental death. They are probing as to which local he fell from. Khan's family was later informed of his death. The body was sent for an autopsy.

Around 1.45pm, Ayushi, a resident of Panvel, was trying to board a second-class ladies' coach of a Chuchgate-bound fast local on platform 5. Suddenly, she lost her grip and slipped, hitting her head on the platform. She was rushed to the Cooper Hospital where she is recuperating. tnn Officials said the train had started moving when she fell. The Andheri GRP are probing further.
