Election code of conduct this month-end?

MUMBAI: The election code of conduct for state assembly polls is expected to come into force towards month-end, said chief secretary Swadhin Kshatriya. But with the ten-day Ganesh festival beginning on August 29, the code of conduct would mean political parties and candidates will have to be careful while sponsoring various mandals.

Kshatriya, along with state chief electoral officer Nitin Gadre, reviewed election preparations on Tuesday. Working of EVMs and officals' postings were reviewed.

"Revenue officials are largely involved in election duty. Officials associated with the exercise and have completed three years at a post and those posted at their home districts have been transferred. We are monitoring to see if anyone has been left out," he said.
