Raigad police bust ‘retirement bash’ of cop, 12 men and 14 women held

NAVI MUMBAI: The Khalapur division of Raigad police raided a private property at Khalapur where a party was taking place late on Saturday night. It turned out to be a retirement bash for a recently retired ACP rank officer of Navi Mumbai.

In all, 12 men and 14 women present at the party were rounded up and taken to Khalapur police station for a medical examination.

A police official informed TOI that the party at Kalothe village was thrown for the Navi Mumbai-based police officer, ACP Suresh Pawar, who had recently retired from service. Further information will be available after police finish the post-raid paperwork and formalities.

While the detained women are in the age group of 20 to 30 years, the men picked up from the party are in the age bracket of around 45 to 60 years.

A police source informed that the women were reportedly dancing at the party for the entertainment of the men. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by Raigad police.

At the Khalapur police station, the police personnel were seen keeping the detained men and women separately and later taking them for a medical examination and also alcohol tests.

The retired ACP officer, Suresh Pawar, who was also present at the party at the time of raid, was also detained by the police for further questioning. It is gathered that the retired ACP has stated that he did not know anything about the exact details of the party and had merely come there on the invitation of one of his friends who had organised the party. However, the name of the party organiser is not yet known. Pawar reportedly retired just a week ago, and defended that he knew nothing about the goings-on at this party which was busted by Raigad cops.

"At present we have only detained the persons found at the venue at the time of raid. Further police action will take place later in the day as per the rules and laws," informed an official at Khalapur.
