Australian Navy on a goodwill visit in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A ten-member delegation from the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies (CDSS), Australia headed by Col. Duncan Hayward visited Mumbai on a three day trip from April 10 to 12. During the visit, Col. Duncan Hayword, head of delegation called on vice-admiral AR Karve, the chief of staff, Western Naval Command. In addition, the delegation interacted with the Naval hierarchy of Western Naval Command. The delegation also visited INS Viraat.

The Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies (CDSS) is the senior educational institution of the Australian Defence College, and is a part of the Australian Defence College (ADC). Its campus is located at Weston Creek in South-West of Canberra. The principal activity of the CDSS is to conduct defence and strategic studies course (DSSC) in Australia, for senior military officers and government officials.

Ships from Royal Australian Navy have been regularly paying goodwill visits to Mumbai. India and Australia have enjoyed good relations as members of Commonwealth, sharing commonality extended by virtue of commitment towards secularism, democratic freedom and common interests as Indian Ocean Littoral states. The current visit by CDSS would further strengthen the existing bonds between the two Navies.
