MUMBAI: A call centre employee was arrested by the Kandivali police recently on cheating charges after he produced bogus documents for buying electronic appliances on loan.

The accused, Afzal Shaikh, purchased a refridgerator, oven and three cellphones from the store between March 18 and 24. "He applied for a loan through the store, after expressing his inability to shell out cash for the purchases. For acquiring the loan, he produced a salary slip and an identification proof which were both forged. But the fact that the documents were forged was revealed later," said an investigating officer from Kandivali police station.

Shaikh couldn't be traced. A case was then lodged against him with the Kandivali police. He was tracked down by the cops last week and arrested.
