MUMBAI: The students of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, unveiled their latest offering J-14, a fuel efficient car capable of achieving more than 300 kmpl designed and built by the second and third year engineering students of KJ Somaiya College of engineering.
J-14 car is a single seater, that runs on petrol on a 35cc engine and would participate in an international level intercollegiate competition Shell Eco Marathon Race held at Philippines for one of the most prestigious international competitions. In all there would be 150 teams participating shortlisted from around 300 odd teams.
The students of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering took a period of six months to produce top notch fuel efficient prototype to make its mark in the competition.
Speaking on the launch Shri Samir Somaiya, Vice President Somaiya Vidyavihar, said, "We encourage our students to go beyond the classroom education and imply the knowledge to practical use."
Shubha Pandit, Principal K J Somaiya College of Engineering said, "Our students have put in a lot of hard work, dedication and toiled relentlessly for over a period of 6 months to come up with a remarkable fuel efficient prototype that would make a mark in the competition."
