The Malabar Hill police said the incident took place between 8 and 9am. The accused, Ajay Pandit alias Raju, has not yet been caught. Police said the vicfound Raju standing with a stranger. Even before she could say anything, the duo barged into the flat. Shah's husband, Suresh, was in Ahmedabad at the time of the incident," said a police source.
"Raju and his aide tied Shah's hands and legs. One of the accused allegedly hit her with a blunt object and locked her in the bathroom," said senior inspector Vinay Bagade. The suspects then ransacked the house and stole gold and cash amounting to Rs 60 lakh. They fled within minutes. When the victim's daughter, who is married and stays in the nearby area, visited her mother sometime later, she found her locked in the bathroom. She immediately informed the police. "Fortunately, the Shahs had Raju's photograph which we have taken. The photo has been sent to various police stations. We have alerted special squads, too.
