The Indian Naval Band plays a key role during various drills, ceremonies and leads the contingents proceeding to war. Western Naval Command band has a vide variety of talented musicians and will be a treat to the music lovers and children of the city.
The Navy Band will be performing for the public at open places to enable any interested citizens to attend and enjoy an evening of music. For the music lovers, four public performances by the Navy Band have been arranged at the following places: Timing Friday 8th Nov at Hanging Gardens, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM - Saturday 9th Nov at Cooperage Band Stand, (On all days) Sunday 10th Nov at Central Park, Kharghar and November 13.
This is an annual feature open for all people from all walks. Interested people can contact Commander Ambuj Khare at INS Trata, Worli (Tel: 24920492) for passes. Passes will also be available on the venue on first come first serve basis.
Sports and Adventure are integral part of Indian Armed Forces. An Open Sea Swimming Competition (of 6 Kilometers distance) has been scheduled on Saturday November 23 at the INWTC (Naval Sailing Club), Pilot Bunder, Colaba. This is an open event where in any person above 14 years of age can participate.
The event has competitions in six categories i.e. Men, Women, Boys under 16, Girls under 16, Special category and Veterans above 50. To register for participating in the event interested people can log on to website www.navydayopenseaswimming.gov.in. The last date for submission of application forms is November 17.
While prevention is better than cure, early detection of illness can save lives. In order to reach out to the needy population, free Medical camps will be held in which Specialist Doctors from naval hospital INHS Asvini will be available for consultation and free treatment and medication. The Medical camps will be held at two places as follows:
