MUMBAI: Ninety year old Asha Andyal, a resident of Campa Cola compound has launched an online petition to save the 100-odd homes that are likely to be demolished after November 11 as they have been declared illegal by the Supreme Court.

In her online petition, Andyal says she is a freedom fighter who fought against British rule in 1942, and is now fighting to save her home.

"They say that our houses weren't a part of the original plan. The builders who sold the houses hid this from us. This is shocking because the builders and BMC will go unpunished but our legally purchased homes are about to be demolished."

Andyal says her only hope is chief minister Prithviraj Chavan. "We have started this petition asking the chief minister to pass an ordinance regularising our homes. If thousands of citizens sign this petition then the chief minister will know that Mumbaikars want it to be regularised and he will do it," she said.
