MUMBAI: Leaders from the Congress and Nationalist Congree Party came out in support of the beleaguered residents of the ill-fated Campa Cola buildings.

MP Milind Deora and minister of state for housing Sachin Ahir met the residents in the society on Wednesday and assured them that they would find a solution within the legal framework.

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party had spoken in favour of the residents in the civic general body.

Residents said Deora assured them that he will meet the chief minister on the issue and try to find out some solution. Deora said, "The Campa Cola residents are suffering for no fault of theirs. These are law abiding citizens who expected legitimate documents from the builder, but this did not happen. The housing regulatory bill is being initiated to regulate builders who promise but don't deliver."

"A solution can be found after taking the law and judiciary into consideration," said Ahir.

According to the latest SC judgment, residents of the 92 flats have to vacate their homes by November 11 after which the BMC will demolish the illegal floors.
