MUMBAI: It was literally raining colours at a special calligraphy workshop organized by the veteran artist Achut Palav, at Belapur CBD on Sunday.

Close to 60 participants made lively and colourful designs on various umbrellas, to make each one stand out in the crowd of monochromatic hues of black and greys.

The lush green earth, the magic of the rainbows, the gray stormy skies create perfect frames in our minds in the monsoon season, remarked Palav. The 'Achyut Palav School of Calligraphy' explores the opportunity to catch the colours on a universal icon of rain — umbrella.

Enthusiasts from Mumbai, Pune and even Nashik had come together to learn the application of calligraphy on an Umbrella. "Through this workshop where people get to learn the application of calligraphy on an Umbrella, we intend to motivate the people for exploring their imagination and bringing it out on the medium of umbrella," added the artist.

This monsoon workshop will be also held in Mumbai shortly.
