Chances of her survival were grim, as it was already dark and around one hour had already elapsed. Notwithstanding, the Naval Vessel, skippered by Hydar Ali, Petty officer, was immediately pressed into service to look for the woman. Acting on the input provided by the police, the crew swiftly zeroed in on to a probable area at sea where the woman would have been drifted towards due to the tidal stream. The naval vessel thereafter carried out an intensive search using all available means. At about 11pm, the search yielded success when the woman was spotted near Dolphin Lighthouse (opposite Taj Hotel) clinging on to a fishing buoy.
The boat was maneuvered to rescue the woman and she was brought onboard the Naval vessel. The woman had visibly drained of all her energy in an effort to save herself.
She was brought to the Naval hospital inside Naval Dockyard and administered first aid prior handing her over to the police for further action.
