MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Thursday granted bail of Rs 50,000 to Vadilal Gada(45) who had been accused and arrested for rape, following allegations from his former employee that he an intimate relationship with her after making false promises of marriage. Gada, a developer, was arrested on February 7.
Gada's bail plea was earlier rejected by sessions court. On Thursday Justice R C Chavan granted him bail with certain conditions that included barring his entry in to D N Nagar area where the alleged victim lives.
The Court after hearing Gada's lawyer I P Bagaria granted him bail of one or more solvent sureities and directed that he must remain present at the police station on the first Sunday of each month till chargesheet is filed. The court directed him not to enter the victim's neighbourhood directly or even indirectly try to be in touch with her.
The FIR registered last month was based on a 31-year-old single mother of two who was his former employee between 2008 and 2011. At present the complainant works for another real estate developer. She alleged that
Gada had demanded that she have an ""illicit relationship'' with him, and in return he had promised her marriage and to look after her children. She alleged that while allegedly having a relationship with her, Gada also had another relationship with one of his other employees.
The complainant filed in the Santa Cruz police station said that she received dire threats from two other men when she tried to contact and confront Gada over his promise. In his bail plea, Gada said there was no need for his continued custody as no interrogation was needed and he said he was not tampering with any evidence.
