MUMBAI: A 25-year-old female doctor knocked down a police constable after she lost control over her scooter near CST railway station. The doctor, Afreen Shaikh, was arrested and later released on bail.

The Azad Maidan police said that the accident took place when Shaikh was on her way to a private hospital where she worked as a resident doctor.

Police said that the constable Nasir Mehboob Tadwi (54), attached to the Azad Maidan police station, was walking alongside the road when Shaikh rammed Tadwi from behind.

"Tadwi fell on the road and sustained a fracture in his right leg", said Deepak Dhole, senior police inspector.

Tadwi was taken to GT Hospital by Shaikh and after admitting the victim, she left.

Later, police found Shaikh from the hospital where she worked.

She did not have a driving license, said police. The scooter belonged to her brother.
