MUMBAI: A senior citizen's bike stolen at Jogeshwari (west) on early Friday. Umar Gafoor, 80, had parked his bike on the road outside his residential building on Thursday night and on next morning he found that the bike was missing. Umar had reported the incident at Oshiwara police station.
The police said that they inquired with the people in vicinity who told the police that they had seen the bike on the road till late in the night on Thursday.
The police suspect that the accused had stolen the bike with the help of a duplicate key. The police are inquiring with the people working in the building for a clue. The victim told the police that he was parking the bike on same spot since years.
The police said that usually the accused park the bike at isolated location in other area for few days and then sell it off. The police had alerted the other police station and provided them the bike number.
The police had registered 4702 motor-vehicle theft cases in 2011. Last year they registered 3769 vehicle theft cases till November.
