MUMBAI: Johnson Verghese (44) a plumber used to sleep in a fabrication shop at Shanti Park, Gokul Village was found murdered in a Mira Road shop where he slept in the night. The victim had stab wounds on his neck and genitals.
The owner of the shop Raju Cherian was known to the victim and had allowed him to sleep in his premises in the night. Verghese who hails from Kerala did not have a house. According to eye-witnesses the victim had allowed another unidentified person to share the space in the shop during night hours.
On Monday morning when Cherian opened the shutters of the shop he found Verghese's nude body lying in a pool of blood. He informed the Mira Road police. The body has been sent for post mortem. The police are on the lookout for the unidentified man who shared the shop with Verghese.
Cherian was not able to give details of the man to the police. Police have ruled out robbery as a motive behind the murder. The police are ascertaining whether Verghese took money for the unidentified man for sharing the shop. Cherian told the police that he allowed Verghese to sleep in his shop as the victim took care of his premises and goods during night hours.
