Supervisor held for molesting co-worker

MUMBAI: The Bhandup police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly misbehaving with his 30-year-old deaf and dumb co-worker inside the company premise on Saturday morning. Accused Chandrashekar Bane, supervisor with a biscuit manufacturing unit in Bhandup, was caught by other workers after the victim brought the incident to their notice.

The incident occurred at Shangrilla Biscuit Manufacturing Unit at LBS Marg in Bhandup (West) when Bane walked to the victim where she was busy in preparing the biscuit. "The arrest was made late evening on the victim's complaint that was filed at 5pm. Investigations are on to get detailed information about the incident," said assistant commissioner of police (Bhandup division) Mahadev Gundewadi.

The complaint was lodged by victim's co-worker Sharda Lokhande after the victim approached her gesturing about Bane's act. Bane was caught by the workers and was thrashed before he was handed over to the police. "The victim informed that Bane approached her and touched her despite objecting him," said the Bhandup police.

Meanwhile Bane who was accused of misbehaving with the victim told the police that "he was made scapegoat by the company union" who was against him and wanted him to get removed from the company. "Police are investigating whether Bane was involved in similar offence in the past in the company premise. He booked under IPC section 354 (outrage modesty) and was released on bail," said the investigators.
