MUMBAI: To beat the hike in auto fares and meet the growing demand of passengers, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Transport (MBMT) has introduced ring route services in Bhayander (west).
The services will later be extended to other areas of the region. The civic administration has fixed Rs 6 as the fare for the ring route service.
Two buses will ply from outside Bhayander (west) railway station to Maxus Mall. The bus will benefit passengers traveling to 60 feet road, 90 feet road, Mandli talav and Bhayander police station.
The buses will be available every five to eight minutes. The hike in auto fares has been worrying passengers who complain of shortage in autos during the morning and evening peak hours. Many a time passengers have to walk to their homes from Bhayander station due to lack of autos in the evening hours.
The ring route service, say passengers, will ensure that they get a bus and need not be depend on autos. The MBMT services have been highly criticized by passengers.
Rude behaviour of drivers and conductors has taken passengers away from buses. The civic administration hopes to attract passengers back to the buses with the ring route service.
Two more buses will be added to the route depending on its success. The MBMT will also introduce ring route services in Mira Road and Bhayander (east).
