MUMBAI: The issue of non-recovery of water bills for Jaslok hospital by the BMC, was taken up by corporators across all parties.
Corporators slammed the administration for the alleged misuse of water in the hospital. D Nikam, opposition leader raised the point of order on the issue.
"For 34 years, a five star hospital has been misuing drinking water for AC cooling plant. A full-fledged departmentmental inquiry be initiated on this issue and we need to recover even legal fees from the hospital,"said Rais Shaikh, NCP leader.
Mohan Adtani, additional municipal commissioner said thatin 2007 BMC discovered that the hospital was using for AC cooling unit and was not being charged as per commercial rates.
"Accordingly we sent the hospital a bill of the last 34 years. WE have not yet received the Bombay High Court order copy. We might even contemplate moving Supreme Court,"said Adtani.
In April 2007, the BMC sent a notice to the hospital demanding Rs 63,43,470 lakh from them alleging that the hospital had misused water. The corporation contended that water was given to the hospital on cheaper rate for common use, not for air cooling which is chargeable at a higher rate.Anda sedang membaca artikel tentang
