7-year-old UK girl dies in Mumbai

KALYAN: A seven-year-old UK national girl who had come to visit Matheran hill station with her parent died because the horse she was riding went uncontrolled and dragged the girl up to 100 meters injuring her badly.

She was later declared brought dead in nearby hospital. The parents are taking back her body to UK.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Matheran hill station when Gavin Mayhew (43) and his wife Tsesse along with three daughters and a son had went for horse riding.

Matheran police said it was between 4.30 to 5pm victim identified as India Mayhem's horse went uncontrolled and dragged the girl up to 100 meters.

The police said later somehow horse operator Pareira and others present over there controlled horse and taken India to nearby primary health centre where she was declared brought dead.

The police said they filed statement of victim parents asking them weather they have any complaint against horse rider but they denied filing any complaint saying it was an accident.

On basis of victim's parents statement police have registered accidental death report and have sent body to JJ hospital in Mumbai for post mortem where from family is planning to take back body to UK.
