TV actor’s mother hangs self

MUMBAI: The mother of a television actress ended her life by hanging from the ceiling of her flat on Saturday. The incident, which took place at Mayfair Building in Andheri (W), came to light when actress Megha Burman woke up in the morning and found her mother Vandana (50) hanging in the hall. The DN Nagar police found a suicide note that was left behind by Vandana, saying, "she is taking the step under depression". A case of suicide has been registered.

Megha had taken an appointment for her mother at Ambani hospital this week to get a medical check-up done. "Vandana hanged herself in the early hours. The suicide note said she was depressed as she felt lonely. Her husband is employed in Kolkata while her daughter often stays out for shoots. There doesn't appear to be any foul play," said senior inspector D S Nalawade of DN Nagar police.

Vandana and her daughter had spent the day out on Friday. They went for a movie and had dinner out. In her statement, Megha said, "I found out about the incident only when I woke up at 6am. I did not think she would take such an extreme step. I had even taken an appointment to take my mother for medical check-up this week."
