Public prosecutor Sandeep Shinde informed a division bench of Justice Ranjit More and Justice Anuja Prabhudessai that the decision was conveyed to him on February 10 by a letter by Deven Bharti, special inspector-general of police.
The court also extended the relief from coercive steps, including arrests, until and posted the next hearing on April 15 when it will take up issue of quashing the offences.
Five first information reports have been filed so far, the bench was informed.
Dalvi moved HC to club and quash multiple FIRs filed against her under IPC Section 295A for outraging religious feelings through deliberate and malicious acts. The Urdu daily had to shut down following an uproar over it reproducing a controversial cover of French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, featuring Prophet Mohammad on January 17.
