Coast guards rescue passengers stuck on ferry near Mumbai's Elephanta island

MUMBAI: Rescue operation was launched to save 54 people stuck onboard a ferry boat 'Navrang' which had run aground near Elephanta island around 3-4 nautical miles off Mumbai coast on Tuesday.

Coast guard launched a hovercraft H-194 and a helicopter from Belapur to rescue the stranded passengers after state govt requested them to launch a rescue operation.

The coast guards safely evacuated 40 men,20 women and 18 children. All the rescued persons were taken to Belapur.
