Around 1.30 pm, there was a long queue of vehicles at the toll plaza. Earlier in the morning, the toll plaza was vandalized by political activists over the toll issue.
"The vehicular traffic going from Mumbai to Pune Expressway has significantly slowed down at the Kamothe toll plaza. Since today is the first day of toll collections, there seems to be some operational hurdles, which should hopefully be overcome as the day goes by," said the senior police inspector (traffic) Pradeep Giridhar of the Kalamboli division.

Traffic cops deployed at the Kamothe toll plaza claim that in order to decongest the traffic near the toll plazas, intermittently some vehicles are allowed to pass without paying the toll charges. The cops assume that for streamlining the situation it may take at least a week and may worsen during weekends.
