The deceased, Rubina Mansoori, 30, married Aspaq two months ago after which the couple shifted to the building no-6 of MMRDA colony meant for project-affected people. They were staying on second floor flat and Aspaq's younger brother was also staying with the couple. Aspaq deals into auto spare parts business on small level.
The police learnt that the couple's family members had opposed their relationship. But they married against wishes of their family members and shifted to the rented accommodation.
"Robbery or sexual assault is not a motive behind the killing. We are inquiring about other possibilities including the personal enmity" said a senior officer.
Aspaq told the police that on Saturday morning he left for the work and returned back around afternoon for lunch. He found the flat door was locked and he managed to open it. Aspaq found his wife in pool of blood and informed the police. The killer had slit Rubina's neck with sharp weapon and the motive is not clear said the police. The accused had not robbed any valuables from the house.
The police recorded Aspaq's statement in the case. They are inquiring with his brother and the couple's relatives about the incident.
The police inquired with the neighbours about visitors for a clue. "As of now, no one from neighbourhood came forwards to provide us any clue in the case. We are questioning them" said a senior officer.
