Will conclude probe into girl's death in a month: CBI tells HC

MUMBAI: Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday told Bombay high court that it needs further four weeks to conclude its probe into the alleged mysterious death of a Mumbai girl who died after partying in Pune.

CBI's advocate Uma Palsuledesai submitted the agency's probe status report in a sealed cover to a division bench of justice Ranjit More and justice Anuja Prabhudessai. The judges perused the report and directed it to be resealed. The bench allowed CBI's plea for more time and adjourned the hearing after a month.

On September 16, 2014 the high court had directed the transfer to CBI on a plea by Nagina Hasan, the mother of 19 year old Sanam. She alleged that the State CID which took over the probe in November 2012 was doing a shoddy job.

Sanam was a second year student of Symbiosis Institute of Design. On October 3, 2012, a birthday party was organized for her by her employer in a flat in Pune's Vadgaon Sheri. The next morning, her parents were called to the hospital where she was dead.
