Thunderstorms and rain surprise Mumbaikars

MUMBAI: Taking Mumbaikars by surprise several areas of Mumbai saw thundering and showers of rain post Friday mid-night. Weathermen had indicated a trough along the west coast on Friday evening.

In the last 24 hours colaba observatory recorded 30mm of rain (till 9am on Saturday) while Santactuz recorded 1.5mm rain. For the month of December in the last one decade the occurrence of rain has been less frequent with only traces of it being observed most of the times.

Weathermen said that the trough in the west coast in likely to move in a day. Parts of south Mumbai specifically like colaba, worli, Parel, Fort recieved more rains as compared to the suburbs.
