Sena leader Vijay Chowgule booked for rape

NAVI MUMBAI: Acting on a police complaint lodged by a 24-year-old woman from Kharghar, the CBD police on Wednesday evening registered a rape case under Section 376 of the IPC against Vijay Chowgle. The woman had alleged ​ that the Shiv Sena's Navi Mumbai district chief had sexually exploited her on various occasions for the past six years.

Police inspector Vijay Tayade said,"The complainant woman who performs dance stage shows has also alleged that the accused Chowgule had threatened her not to reveal her sexual exploitation to anybody. Hence, the accused has been applied IPC section for criminal intimidation as well.

As the sexual assault had taken place at a hotel in CBD-Belapur, as alleged by the complaint, the FIR has been registered at CBD police station." Police said they are still gathering evidence in the case.
