A committee under the chairmanship of justice V S Sirpurkar (retd), former judge of the Supreme Court of India for selection of the vice-chancellor for the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has been set up.
Dr P B Kale, Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization, Wardha (nominated jointly by the Academic Council and Management Council of the University) and Dr Sanjay Chahande, Principal Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra (nominee of the State Government) will be the other members of the Committee.
The post of the vice-chancellor of the University had fallen vacant following the resignation of Dr V S Sapkal in March this year.
Dr V S Deshpande is presently officiating as vice-chancellor of the University.
