MUMBAI: A police constable and accomplice (a private person) were caught by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a slum dweller in Govandi in Mankhurd.
Police constable Vishal Sanap who is attached to the Mankhurd police station was caught along with his friend Khursheed Ansari under the prevention of corruption act. According to police, complainant in the case is a civil contractor who does repairing work of slums at Bharat Nagar slums in Mankhurd. While he was carrying out some repair work of a slum, constable Sanap went to the site and threatened to book him for illegal construction and demanded Rs 5,000.
Contractor agreed to pay the bribe and simultaneously lodged a complaint with ACB and laid a trap. On Friday when Ansari accepted the bribe on Sanap's behalf the ACB caught both of them.
