Garments stolen from Vasai shop

MUMBAI: Unidentified men broke into a garment shop at Vasai on Friday. According to the Manickpur police, the thieves gained entry into G B Boutique located in Anand Nagar, Vasai (W) and decamped with Rs 2 lakh worth of T shirts and jeans.

Police believe it to be the work of an insider as the thieves took away expensive garments. They did not touch Rs 10,000 kept in the draw. The theft came to light on Saturday morning when the shop owner found the lock of the shutter broken. The shop did not have a closed circuit camera. The CCTVs installed in other shops in the vicinity have captured images of four men carrying bags. Police suspect them to be the thieves.

The owner had stocked expensive garments during Diwali. Police said that while ordinary garments were left behind, branded jeans and T-shirts were selectively taken away. A case under sections 454 (trespass), 457 (housebreaking) and 380 (theft) of the IPC has been registered.
