EC urges voters to check names on electoral rolls

MUMBAI : The election commission on Saturday despatched mass text messages to citizens urging them to verify their names on the voters' list in time for Wednesday's assembly poll.

The district election officer's reminder reiterated the voting date as October 15 along with the timing that is 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. It urged people to check their "elector details" on the official websiteceo.maharashtra.gov.in so they are not inconvenienced later.

Incidentally, certain candidates in Mumbai have cited the closing hour as 5.30 pm on their campaign posters just so voters make sure to arrive at polling stations well before the 6.00 pm deadline.
