MUMBAI: The police have detained workers of a political party for allegedly distributing pressure cookers in a slum pocket at Worli Koliwada on Saturday. Till now cash belonging to politicians has been seized in various parts of the state.

"Around 500 pressure cookers and frying pans, which were stored in a house belonging to retired assistant police commissioner Sudhakar Ghaghre in Worli Village, were seized," said a police officer. "We had received complaints that the supporters of NCP candidate Sachin Ahir were distributing pressure cookers to influence voters," said a senior police officer.

However, Ahir refuted the allegations. "Every year after Navratri, the Gajanand Friends Circle organizes haldi kum functions in the area. However, none of my supporters were present there so there is no question of distributing any freebies. The police must probe the matter," said Ahir.
