Two die of suspected gastro, 16 admitted in Jawahar

MUMBAI: Two villagers from Jawahar died of suspected gastroenteritis and another 16 have been admitted in the rural hospital after the well water of the village was found to be contaminated.

The contamination was found in the well at Rajewadi village of Jawahar taluka of Palghar district. Villagers complained of diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain and cramping. The villagers were taken to the rural hospital where two of them died due to suspected gastroenteritis. The other patients are under observation.

District health officials have visited the village and cordoned off the well. The water sample from the well has been taken for testing.
