Doctor held for raping teen in car

MUMBAI: A 48-year-old doctor took a 17-year-old patient in his car to an isolated area off Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Thane and allegedly raped her inside the vehicle on Friday. Mulund police arrested the doctor and produced him before a court on Saturday, where he was remanded to police custody. The accused owns a nursing home in Mulund Colony.

Earlier this month, the survivor visited the nursing home for the first time with a complaint of severe stomach pain.

The accused allegedly asked her to take off her clothes during checkup and molested her. He also reportedly clicked her pictures and threatened her against telling anyone about it.

On Friday, the survivor called the doctor once again and complained of stomach ache. The accused called her to Mulund Colony around 3pm and told her that he needed to take her X-Ray. He allegedly convinced the teen to accompany him in his car and he took her to SGNP at Thane. He allegedly threatened and raped her and clicked her objectionable photos again on his mobile phone. After committing the crime, he dropped the survivor near her residence.

She narrated the incident to her family who took her to a police station in Thane and registered a case. It was later transferred to Mulund police station. The doctor was arrested from his residence on Saturday.

Cops booked him under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) along with relevant sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
