MUMBAI: Passengers returning home in a mini bus after a pilgrimage were allegedly robbed on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Kasa on Monday night by three unidentified men.

The bus broke down because of a flat tyre at around 11.30pm. The driver alighted to fix the tyre. There were 13 passengers, all resident of a building in Malad (west). They were returning from a trip to Pawagadh and Dakor in Gujarat.

Three unidentified men dressed in T-shirts and jeans approached the driver. One of the suspects put a pistol on the driver's head. The other two entered the bus and robbed the seven men and six women of cash and gold worth Rs 3 lakh. The passengers were taking a nap when they were woken up.

The men fled into the darkness and the passengers approached the Kasa police. A case under section 379 (theft) of the IPC has been registered against the unknown persons.
