Force-feeding row: Cops told to file report

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 20 Agustus 2014 | 22.23

A trial court in Delhi on Tuesday directed the Delhi police to file an action taken report (ATR) on a complaint seeking an FIR against Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare for allegedly force-feeding a fasting IRCTC employee during Ramzan at Maharashtra Sadan.

The court's order came on a complaint filed by social worker Kamran Siddiqui. Though the court directed the police to file an ATR by September 10, it questioned why Siddiqui had filed the complaint when the alleged victim had not come forward. "What injury has been caused to you? When the alleged victim has not come forward, then why are you filing this complaint?" metropolitan magistrate Akash Jain asked the complainant.

Siddiqui and his lawyers told the court they are public-spirited people who have filed PILs on various issues. They said the alleged victim is a contractual employee and cannot file a complaint on this issue. The complainant's counsel told the court that they had filed a plaint with the Delhi police, but no action had been taken so far.
