MUMBAI: A female dog of Bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) helped the MRA Marg police detect and arrest two thieves who had stole Rs 15 lakhs from a corporate office in Fort using screw drivers.

The MRA Marg police have arrested Shabbir Abbas and Sharif Aslam Pathan and have recovered Rs 12.5 lakhs cash and a brand new auto rickshaw which the accused had brought using the stolen money. And the deputy commissioner of police (zone 1) Ravindra Shishve is likely to felicitate the BDDS dog Heena. According to the investigating officer Sharad Dhole, a house breaking had taken place in Eastern Trading company in Fort a fortnight ago and during examination police found only two big screw drivers. "Except that the accused had used screw drivers we did not had any clues but the Heena dog led us till Mastan adda in Fort where drug addicts assemble for consuming drugs,'' said Dhole.

Dhole said that at Mastan Adda some informer informed him that it was the handiwork of two offenders from Lallubhai compound in Mankhurd. Last week a team of police raided that compound which is also another assembling point. Police picked up Shabbir Abbas who during interrogation spill bean on his associate Aslam Pathan. Police recovered Rs 12.5 lakhs from duo and also an brand new auto rickshaw which they had purchased using the stolen money.
