MUMBAI: Tata Power, which services more than 5 lakh electricity consumers in the city, has geared up to face the rains with the launch of its 'monsoon preparedness program' -- to combat the exigencies arising out of various situations during the rains.
The programme is aimed towards minimizing inconvenience to TPC's customers, ensure their safety and curtail response time in case of any emergency.
To ensure timely action in such cases, Tata Power has made special arrangements at its 24x7 call centre 1-800-209-5161. In case of fire/accident consumers can call 2577 4399.
Tata Power's proactive action plan includes pre-monsoon checks and preventive maintenance of equipment at the distribution and consumer sub-stations, has installed adequate de-watering pumps to avoid flooding, placed tarpaulins at select locations and inspected critical locations for water leakages and flooding.
Additionally, vehicles with necessary equipment, a dedicated services team, fault duty engineers have been strategically placed at various nodes of the city to cater to any crisis, a senior official said.
The power utility firm has also ensured an adequate stock of essential spare parts, tools and equipment including transformers, switchgears, etc. which will help in minimizing the response time towards power interruptions, the official added.
