Engineering admissions to have 3 rounds

The state government is revising the schedule for the centralized admission process (CAP) for engineering degree courses this year following the Supreme Court's directive that seeks completion of the admissions by July 29.

"We have to commence the academic session from August 1," director of technical education (DTE) S K Mahajan said on Saturday. "As a result, the CAP schedule is being condensed and now there will be a total of three CAP rounds instead of the initially declared four rounds," he said.

Minister for higher and technical education Rajesh Tope said, "The DTE will formally move a proposal to me on Sunday for the revised engineering CAP schedule. We will issue a notification related to the same by Monday."

This year, the process for online submission of engineering CAP forms and confirmation and verification of the same at the application receipt centres (ARCs) commenced on June 23.

A provisional merit list will be released on July 5 and the final list on July 9. "We still have time till July 9 to release the remaining schedule with revised CAP rounds as sought by the apex court," said Mahajan.
