Sukumar Shah (65) forged documents to sell a 14 acre agriculture plot owned by his wife Smita (55) located in Khaire-Ambivli village in Wada taluka.
He collected Rs 74 lakhs as part payment from the prospective buyer. The buyer approached the collector's office in Jawahar to check the title of the property. The buyer found that the property was an agricultural plot and had not been converted into NA.
The buyer informed the collector's office who inturn alerted the talati, who registered a complaint with the Wada police. The original owner of the plot was unware about the sale.
The police on investigation found that Shah had forged the government documents. The police booked him under cheating and forgery charges of the IPC.
Police are investigating who helped Shah forge the documents.
Shah owns two industrial units in Wada and was the former president of the Wada Taluka Industrial Federation.
