MUMBAI: With the assembly polls barely months away, the Centre's decision to partially roll back the unprecedented rail fare hike may have brought some cheer to the state BJP, but the road ahead doesn't seem smooth.

Reports of a hike in gas and sugar prices have dampened party workers' spirit, especially with the Congress-NCP's continued protests against the "buray din" ahead under the Modi regime.

"The state BJP's woes are yet to end. There are reports gas and sugar will cost more. We will have to face greater public ire," said a party leader. "There are ample indications onion prices may also go up."

He added: "In (Gopinath) Mundeji's death, we have lost a charismatic leader. The Shiv Sena continues to act pricey. Prices are going up. The Modi wave seems on the wane. Looks like bad days are ahead for the party."
