The first round will conclude on Tuesday.
Of the 6,575 applicantions in the first round, 3,380 were allotted a seat in a lottery conducted on Tuesday last week.
Though there were fewer applications in the first round than the 8,223 seats available, all students could not secure a place as 57 schools received more admission applications than they had seats.
In the new round, applications for vacant seats will be accepted till May 30.
"A lottery will be conducted for the schools which have more applicants than seats available on June 2," additional municipal commissioner Mohan Adtani said. "Admissions for these seats will be held between June 3 and 7."
Adtani made the assurance that all students who were allotted a seat would be receiving admission.
"The parents have to get in touch with the school by May 20," he said. "Their admissions will remain intact even if the school calls them to complete the process later on. If the student is denied admission, the parents can complaint to department."
A decision was yet to be made on whether those students who were not allotted a school seat in the first round would need to apply all over again.
"We have not taken a call on whether the previous applications will be considered for those not allotted a seat in the first round," BMC education officer Shambhavi Jogi. "The decision will made by MKCL, which is handling the website, but parents can rest assured that everyone will get another chance."
